Dear Dance Crews/Companies/Artists

I am e-mailing you to offer you a wicked opportunity for a chance to perform at this years Breakin Convention Tour 09 in Manchester: May 30th at The Lowry Theatre, Salford Quays. If you want to perform and showcase ya skillz in the North West's biggest theatre you need to submit ya application by Jan 31st - details how to do this are below!!

It's a massive Hip Hop dance theatre festival that takes place every year in London and this year after it kicks off down South it will be touring around the UK and hitting The Lowry Theatre on May 30th as it's last UK Tour Date, (saving the best till last the good ol' party town of Manchester of course and we need to REPRESENT!)

What Breakin Convention needs from you:

A performance of any hip hop dance styles (Breakin, Street Nu-Skool or Ol Skool, locking, popping, krumpin etc?) of 5-10mins in length. There will be a total of 3 slots in the half an hour Opening for 3 Crews. The performances will take place prior to the international main stage acts. The doors will open around 3pm aprox. and we will aim to start the show at 7.30pm.


Breakin' convention tries to push the creativity of dance within Hip Hop. We're not just after tight routines and dope moves on their own, we're also after some substance, creativity, innovation and originality. For more info on this aspect take a look at:

The DEADLINE TO APPLY IS 31st JAN 2009

You have to apply online at the Breakin' Convention website stating which is your nearest venue and fill in a simple 1 page application with basic details download the form from this link:

Then write a link on the form with either a youtube/website/or other site link to some footage or DVD/Video of your crews/companies work, which can be rehearsals in a studio, competition battle or a piece you already performed somewhere else - this footage does NOT have be the piece you are going to perform in May you will have loads of time to work on that it is just to get a flavour of your crew/companies style!!

We want a varied selection of styles to represent the Fusion mix up culture that is Hip Hop in Manchester's melting pot of creativity and down to earth soul. (You know what I am sayin!? )

If there are more than 3 groups applying then there will be a mini audition day held at some point in Feb at The Lowry Theatre, Salford. The big chiefs from London will come up and have a look and decisions will be made in March. We are having a separate area in the theatre Front of House where groups who aren't successful in getting on the main stage can still perform their stuff and get it seen.. If you are involved with more than one group (as I know some of you are) then that's cool...as long as the named representative is different for each group.

THERE IS NO FEE! ... As can often be the case with Hip Hop related gigs, Boo! But here's what you do get:

• To be part of something that's gonna blow up...BIG TIME!!!
• A catalyst to create new exciting work that will be seen by professionals, companies, art peeps, theatre staff, general public & hopefully ya familia if they get a ticket and come watch ya in your home town!
• To perform alongside Global scale international artists in a 1,700 seat capacity theatre venue - http://www.thelowry.com/

• Access to rehearsal space closer to the date
• Tech facilities at the theatre...lighting etc ... this will be limited to 30mins per group for main stage acts.
• Main Stage Acts get a Free Seat to watch the Actual Show after you have performed (MC Jonzi D, 2 other local crews and 3 internationals! Normal Ticket Price usually around £12-£20)
• Afterparty (over 18s only tho!)

Workshops will also be available from the international acts on the day of the event. It is not confirmed yet who will be teaching from the above Guru's but spaces will be limited to 25 a class, details of these free/low price workshops to come!

There will also be Graffiting, DJing and hopefully battling going on during pre show, interval breaks and Afterparty for those of you who are confident enuff to bust ya moves & freestyle.

i'm looking for a crew or group that would go dance in the street and battle other crew that is something i'm looking for just like the movie step-up 2, you got serve, and how she move. i know i could move like that but i'm just looking for something like that
